Is The ASC?
A 4900 sq.
foot building designed to allow students, teachers, scientists, and citizens
to teamwork to apply scientific methods to environmental issues and topics
in their community.
Three
main parts:
- An Aquatic Biology
facility and laboratory classroom specifically designed to support research
and applied technology in fisheries sciences and aquatic education. This includes
a stream, concrete ponds, indoor/outdoor flow-through and recirculating aquaria
and tanks, and a 1200 sq. foot Wetlab.
- An Applied Science
Laboratory (with office space) in which students assist scientists to
carry out local research projects in the fields of wetland and watershed
ecology, water quality, forestry, hydrology, oceanography, or marine biology.
- A central Data Lab
for storage and access to scientific samples and data, reference documents,
maps, printers, and GIS systems
